Visit Ludza on ‘Pēteris Day’ (June 29), when the annual ethnographic celebrations take place and enjoy the national traditions of Latgale!  45. Rēzekne, heart of Latgale – the geographic centre of the Latgale’s region with unique architecture and churches. The town is especially proud of its Monument „Vienoti Latvijai” (“United for Latvia”) – a bronze statue of a maiden, holding a cross who is the region’s symbol of the liberty gained in 1920, after liberation from the Bolsheviks.
